New cars to be launched under Rs 10 lakh

Domestic market is under the grip of slowdown but despite this stagnancy the spirits of car makers in India are high. Through the year you will witness various car launches in every segment which will be priced beneath Rs 10 lakh. With so many cars coming in the Indian car market, auto makers hope to see surge in demand for new cars which will eventually affect their monthly car sales in India. Let us sneak a peek into the new cars that are going to be launched in India with a price tag under Rs 10 lakh.

1. Mahindra Mini Xylo

Second on the list is long awaited car from Mahindra, Mini Xylo. The vehicle has been sneaked umpteen times running across the roads of India for sturdy performance. Expect this new car from Mahindra by September 2012, the car will be under four meter in length and hence will get advantage of cars under four meter length. It would rather be an oversized hatchback offering benefits of a utility vehicle and hence will trigger a war with premium hatchbacks. Mini Xylo will be able to seat seven people inside the car; the extra two seats will be placed at the rear. To reduce the price to Rs 5 lakh (which in Mahindra Mini Xylo’s expected price in India) the car can go amiss in some of the features present in Mahindra Xylo. A 1.5 litre diesel engine will do duty in the upcoming Mahindra Mini Xylo, giving it a powerful soul. The 1.5 litre engine will be harmonized to a five speed manual transmission that is likely to churn out maximum power ranging between 70 PS to 90 PS. Likely to be launched in a couple of months the vehicle is expected to take advantage of the festive season, this could be a stern competitor to the likes of Maruti Ertiga which has taken the domestic market by storm.

2. Chevrolet Sail

Chevrolet’s two new products, Chevrolet Sail sedan and Chevrolet Sail hatchback will also be priced less than Rs 10 lakh. Sail hatchback will be priced above Beat which is a premium hatchback therefore it will lock horns with the likes of Renault Pulse, Skoda Fabia, Maruti Swift and Nissan Micra. Rumours suggest that Chevrolet Sail hatchback and Chevrolet Sail sedan are the replacement of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA and Chevrolet Aveo sedan which have been a dud seller. Sail hatchback is expected to barge in during July-September period, Sail sedan is also likely to compete with sedans such as Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Manza, and Toyota Etios etc. Expect Sail sedan to be launched by the festive season of Diwali.

3. Tata Safari Storme

Tata Motors too is readying itself to render a much improved and sturdier version of its popular SUV, Tata Safari Storme. The muscular vehicle was also displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi at Pragati Maidan. To make sure that the vehicle’s new version is flawless Tata Motors have been testing the SUV vigorously. Price expected to fall in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 11 lakh, the SUV will give a stiff competition to other SUVs like Mahindra XUV 500. The current generation Safari will also continue to be on sale along with the new gen Safari. The SUV was earlier expected to be launched in the month of May, but the car maker did not render the SUV then, still there is no clarity as when this revamped SUV will land in the arena to fight out the competition.

4. Mahindra Verito CS

Another car from Mahindra’s clan which is ready to go under the knife is Mahindra Verito CS. With the scanty excise duty levied on under four meter cars, Mahindra seems to be making complete advantage of this option. Mahindra Verito compact sedan too will have length below four meters. Expected to be launched in the end of 2012 around December, shorter Verito could be powered with a 1.5 litre K9K Renault diesel mill. However, not many details are out about this car but it is likely to be priced lower than the current version, not too many cars are present in the compact sedan segment, this will be just a third member gracing the segment by the end of 2012 unless any other car maker slips in a CS version silently.

5. Mahindra Reva NXR

The only electric car in India, Mahindra Reva might not have attracted too many buyers in India, but this does not stop the car maker to bring a new version of the electric motor, Mahindra Reva NXR. Reva NXR can be launched in the Indian car market by October or November; the current version of the electric car is priced at Rs 3.36 lakh which is likely to bump up for the new version. Reva NXR is likely to offer higher fuel economy with an enhanced 20 km of mileage to the current 80 km per charge. Reva NXR can reach a maximum speed of 104 km/h and will sport a 15inch alloy wheels.

6. Nissan Evalia

Nissan finally quenched its thirst for success in the India car market with Nissan Sunny sedan last year and is now eyeing to crack the MPV segment with Nissan Evalia which was exhibited at the 11th Auto Expo earlier in January in New Delhi at Pragati Maidan. Expected to be launched by the end of the year, Nissan Evalia could come with a price tag ranging between Rs 8 to Rs 12 lakh. A 1.5 litre diesel engine will power the MPV to make it more frugal and to fall in line with the current demand in the domestic market. The MPV will be able to accommodate seven people easily inside the cabin; the MPV will rival MPVs like Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo.

7. Chevrolet Enjoy

Another humongous vehicle being developed for the domestic market is from Chevrolet India’s stable, the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. Expected to barge in by November or December in India the MPV will appeal to the mass segment as its low price will lure the customers. The MPV will be rolled out in both petrol and diesel guise, the petrol variant will be housed with a 1.4 litre petrol mill while the diesel version will come equipped with a 1.3 litre diesel engine. Petrol as well as diesel engines will be harmonized to a five speed manual transmission.

8. Ashok Leyland Stile

Targeted at the cabbie segment, Ashok Leyland Stile this would a product of Nissan-Ashok Leyland JV. The MPV will be placed below Nissan Evalia MPV in the domestic market. Ashok Leyland Stile MPV will be first launched in diesel version followed by a CNG version. With Ashok Leyland Stile, the utility maker will foray in the passenger segment. Since the MPV will be placed below Evalia, it would also be priced below Evalia and definitely below Rs 10 lakh mark. Let us hope that this MPV will get a good response in the Indian car market.

9. Ford Ecosport

Ford is looking into ways to repeat Figo’s success in India and is planning to launch a new compact SUV named Ford EcoSport. Expected to be priced at Rs 8.5 lakh, EcoSport is all set to besot you with its contemporary looks. Ford EcoSport launch in India has been pushed from 2012 to early 2013 which means that its rivals which will soon be a part of the Indian car market will have an edge over EcoSport as its launch has been delayed to 2013. Ford has developed a new 1.0 litre, three cylinder Ford EcoBoost engine for the SUV which will apparently deliver more fuel economy.
