Things to Ask the RV Rental Company
A lot of people don’t know too much about renting an RV. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. There are a lot of people who haven’t done it. If you’re renting for the first time, you need to understand that there are some things that you should ask the RV rental company. Not only will it make you more knowledgeable, it may actually save some good money. That’s a big thing if you’re going on vacation, as you’re already allotting a lot of money to things, as well.
Here are the things that you should be asking the potential RV rental company.
Do you guarantee the rental unit’s year?
This is a really good question to ask, as some companies use units that can be up to 10 years old. Other companies use things that are called “modular units.” The modular unit is something that’s used over and over again, only replacing things such as the chassis pretty frequently. There are even some companies out there that use units that are owned by other people and are only rented out by a company, not actually by the company you’re renting from.
This may not be a deal breaker for many, but it’s generally not considered to be the best way to handle business in the eyes of many. If anything, it’s just a bit in bad taste, as you can’t really verify how good the vehicle is.
What are the mileage charges?
As you would expect, the amount you drive the RV, the more that you will end up paying. Some places charge a bit more than other ones, and it’s your job to know how much they’ll actually end up charging you. Fortunately, there are even some companies that offer unlimited mileage in a certain area, and some even have a certain amount of free miles that they also offer. You need to know if there are free miles, and just basically everything that goes into how they’ll charge for your use of the vehicle.
What are the additional fees?
Every company is going to charge additional fees, though some are a bit moral than others. Certain companies have been known to nickel-and-dime for cleaning, generator, and cleaning fees. Of course, these are valid expenses, but some of them are actually a bit too much by many accounts. As such, you’ll want to ask the company about any service charges that you’ll be incurring, and make sure that you understand exactly what they are before you proceed.
These three questions are vastly considered to be the most important when you are about to rent an RV. You may come up with some things that you consider important, but you should never forget these when you’re ultimately deciding to rent an RV. Most of the time, you’ll be able to tell if it’s the company for you just by asking these three questions. They go a long way in not only understanding how good they are, but it also tells you whether or not they operate using the best moral practices.
