Lifting weights is not only recommended for men but also for women. It helps you to lose weight, it strengthens your muscles and you get fitter! Take a look at the tips below which are guaranteed to help you!
Don’t be intimidated to go to the gym. People go there to work on themselves and not to look at you and laugh at you. Everyone you see at the gym is there for the same reason as you, which is to get strong, lose weight and become a healthier person. Furthermore, everyone has started somewhere, so there is absolutely no reason for you to be scared to go the gym!
When you’re at the gym, focus on compounds lifts that require the movement of several muscles at the same time, such as barbell bench press, squats and dead lifts. Talk to one of the coaches and let them show you how to do them the right way! It’s also important to focus on using the proper form as your workout will be much better, you will see better results and the chance to injure yourself will be greatly reduced. Therefore, you shouldn’t concentrate on lifting heavy weights, but to do the exercise the right way. Leave your ego at home!
You won’t be seeing results right away. Patience is utterly important as it can take a few weeks or even months to see the first results. Stay at it, work hard, eat properly and you will definitely see a change! If you are looking for a motivation, take a picture of yourself and hang it on the mirror. Now once a week, you look at the picture and you compare yourself to your old-self. I’m sure you will see a change (even if it’s small). It’s also good to take a friend with you. Like this you won’t be able to find excuses as your friend will want you to come with him. Both of you can compete with each other, for example to see who will look better in one year time.
Don’t train the same muscle every day! When working out, you damage your muscle tissue and it’s important for you to take a break of at least 48h for the damage to be repaired and for your muscles to get bigger and stronger. Furthermore, make sure not to train just your chest, biceps and abs, but work every single muscle of your body. Talk to one of the coaches and tell him to get you a plan that focuses heavily on compound exercises as they work more muscles than isolation exercises. In order to see results, cut the sugar like candy, chocolate or other fatty foods. Try to eat lean meats, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and vitamins and minerals.
If you are strict with yourself, meaning you work out at least 3 times a week and eating food with actual nutritional value, you will see how your fat will melt and the muscles come out. You will be a new person, you will love to see yourself in the mirror and you will be a much healthier person!
