What The Weather Does to Your Car

Having some kind of shelter for your car is incredibly important if you want to make sure that you keep it in its best condition and don’t have to replace it any time too soon. At the same time if you want to look good driving around in the vehicle you no doubt will have spent a lot on, then you need to work to maintain it and avoid it deteriorating. For all these reasons getting some kind of shelter for your car when you park it on your drive is absolutely crucial and it’s a very big mistake to leave it out exposed to the elements.

Of course potential thieves and vandals are one threat to your car, but even with lots of security there is still a very real threat of damage from the weather. Mother nature is not kind to cars and this is something you will need garages or portable garages to protect against. Here we will look at what the weather will do to your vehicle if you don’t use car shelters.

Hail: Hail is basically large lumps of ice being pelted out of the sky at high speeds into your car. This can cause many little dents on the body of the car and is also likely to chip and crack your windshields and other autoglass. This is very serious for any car of course and can result in a lot of damage unless you find a way to prevent the problem – particularly serious is damage to the windshield which can distract you when driving and lead to an accident. Using car shelters of course you can avoid this damage.

Rain: Rain might not seem that dangerous to a large piece of metal machinery like a car, but actually it can be a serious problem. Not only will rain water be very dirty and leave unattractive streaks down the body and windows of your car, but it can also cause rust over time. All it takes is for some hail to slightly chip your pain and then for the moisture from the rain to get into the crack and you can find rust setting in and presenting a serious problem.

Ice: Ice is a serious problem too as it can freeze up the screen and this can make it very slow for you to get started. This can then lead to damage to your car too if for instance you inadvertently crack the screen when trying to thaw it out with warm water, or if you break the wipers. Another danger of extreme cold is that it can cause old car batteries to drain more quickly, making you very late for work when you go to leave and can’t start the car.

Sun: The sun isn’t bad for your car per say, but if you don’t have a car shelter it can get very hot and this can be dangerous if it heats your seat belt buckle up to scolding temperatures for instance. It’s also simply unpleasant to get into a boiling car.

To protect your car from these natural elements, it’s a good idea to get a car shelter. Click here to find out more on portable shelters, instant garages and more.
