Playa Tamarindo: The Perfect Vacation Destination in Costa Rica

Want a vacation destination that has everything? Visit Tamarindo in Costa Rica, Central America. Tamarindo is like a dream. Beautiful beaches, perfect weather, excellent food and all the nightlife one can stand.

Tamarindo has something for everyone. There is gentle surf with small waves on one end of the beach ideal for small children and the elderly. The other end of the beach has the powerful waves that expert surfers desire. There is also an abundance of comfortable lounge chairs and beach umbrellas that allow one to lie in the shade and let the sounds of the surf lull you to sleep.

Costa Rica is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world and Tamarindo is one of the major reasons why. Tamarindo is easily accessible from anywhere in the world. You can fly into San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital and drive a few hours to Tamarindo or take a short domestic flight to the seaside city. But the fastest way to get to Tamarindo is to fly into Liberia International Airport, just north of Tamarindo.

Tamarindo has a wide range of accommodations. There is a hotel in just about anyone’s price range. Whether you are a student on spring break with just a few dollars in your pocket or a rich tourist for whom money is no object, Tamarindo has the perfect place for you. There are five star hotels, bed and breakfasts, beach front bungalows or any other type of accommodations you need. And no matter where you stay in Tamarindo, you are never very far from the beach.

But Tamarindo is more than just a tourist town. While it has fabulous nightlife, great restaurants and all manner of entertainment for vacationers, Tamarindo still retains its small town feel. Downtown boasts several small bakeries, pottery stores, an art gallery and an outdoor vegetable market. Many of the locals still earn their living working as simple fishermen as they have done in the region for centuries.

Not everyone who comes to Tamarindo heads to the beach. Many come to observe the endangered Leatherback turtle in their nesting ground in Marino Las Baulas National Park or enjoy the Cayman, monkeys and exotic birds. Others come to swim with the manta rays, moray eels and white-tip sharks near Bat Island, Coco Island or the Catalina Islands a few miles offshore from Playa Tamarindo.

Want the perfect vacation? Come to Tamarindo!
