After the week’s daily routine, one always prefers to unwind and relax through the weekends, maybe go for a swim, take a long nap, and some even go for a spa or a massage. The practice of being massaged for healing and relaxation purposes has been there right from the 17th century. Back then, doctors used special oils to massage the invalids, to relieve them of muscular spasms and fatigues. In today’s world, people are trained with the art of massaging, and are known as masseurs (male) and masseuse (female). A proper massage releases the excess hypertension and absolves all fatigue and one feels refreshed after it. However, there are different types of massages that can be provided for, such as a sensual massages, tantric massages or even Swedish massages etc. The difference lies mainly in the essential oils used for the treatments and the modus operandi (the manner in which the massages are given). The massages are generally rendered via bare hands, although some masseurs also may prefer wearing gloves. The customer is asked to shed his clothes and be clothed only in a towel. The masseur/masseuse can only provide a massage if he/she possesses a massage license, which is earned by them, on successful completion of their massage art training. According to the different types of massage, the masseur massages the respective parts of the human body, for instance, a foot massage would mean a massage confined to only the feet, the carpals and the soles.
Nude massages are also provided, where the customer has to be laid down fully nude, first facing the ground, and then with their back to the ground. The entire body of the customer needs to be covered in the relaxing oils, and thereby is the need for nude massages. Generally nude massages are provided to a customer by a professional of the same sex, or, a masseuse generally would provide one to a girl.
Another special type in the massage sector is a tantric massage or a tantra massage. This one refers to a more holistic approach in choice of the essential oils and also more of a naturist massage to the customer. Here the massage treatments are inspired from the rituals or practices carried out by the ancient priests, for instance, tantric yoga. It involves different oils, in most cases soil from a particular region, or even the holy waters of a river. It is believed that in the above mentioned ingredients (which are considered holy and sacred) there still lies a medicinal factor, or a spiritual connection, which is responsible for curing ailments of the body and mind. Tantric massages are practised in very secret locations, and are restricted to a group of professionals, who know the art.
