Teapots – Lots of Modern Options
Teapots are classically associated with being an old fashioned, kitsch and very British paraphernalia and they are something we associate with tea parties and the mad hatter. However this isn’t the only role for teapots, and actually they are very practical items that can also be very modern and very stylish and that can look great as well.
Modern teapots sometimes will retain the classic old fashioned teapot look and this can mean that they have the same kitsch floral patterns and designs. There are many companies like Emma Bridgewater that have made a living out of these kinds of styles and this is a look that is very much coming back into fashion – the kind of self-conscious 50s style that many women are currently wearing as tops and dresses too. While these are very old fashioned in some ways though, they also are very contemporary in fashion and it’s very clear to sea which of the teapots are modern and self-consciously retro and which of them are just old and found in a car boot sale – the 2012 teapots for instance tend to have larger patterns and more white space and tend to feature brighter rather than duller colors too.
When you go for these floral designs you may also decide to go for a full matching tea set. These look very hip and modern themselves as they demonstrate you have planned ahead for your set and that you have coordinated and this is a very contemporary look in itself. These are very fun for having afternoon tea with your friends or for throwing parties, and if you want to take it one step further then you can even use this as a way to present alcoholic drinks at a party which is very fun and unusual – or even to serve up sweats like jelly beans.
At the same time though there are other more out there teapot designs that look more modern. Sometimes in these cases the tea pot will be a separate style when compared to the rest of your tea set and will stand out as a result. These can include metal teapots which use a metallic finish and stand out as a result and these are also great at keeping your tea warm. Alternatively you can also get teapots that are made from plain white china and so have the ability to fit in with any crockery or tea set. The more modern designs for these types are often the more minimalistic ones with fewer curves and handles and that are instead made from the least china possible to evoke style and efficiency. Finally there are also all kinds of novelty and fun teapots you can find which might look like other objects that you wouldn’t expect tea to come out of or reference pop culture in some way.
Of course you mustn’t just think about your style here, you also need to think about the efficiency of the teapot at keeping your tea hot and at pouring without spilling.
There are such a wide variety of tea pots to choose from. The main thing for me is that they poor without spilling. These days I only buy organic tea because I try to avoid possible dyes and chemicals.
