2012 Honda Civic launch for India in doubts

Honda Motors has launched 2012 Honda Civic in numerous global markets. But the Japanese automaker is keeping it away from India. However, this decision of not bringing 2012 Honda Civic to Indian car bazaar is wise as the sales figures of the Civic have been tumbling down constantly. On the other hand, there is a possibility that Honda might introduce a Honda Civic diesel sedan. The new 1.6 litre of i-DTEC turbo diesel engine will be fitted into the diesel Honda Civic. But no concrete information has been revealed regarding the launch of this diesel wonder. According to the grapevine, this diesel motor will produce peak power of 120PS and 300Nm of maximum torque. But launching Honda civic diesel, Honda Motors will certainly make the premium sedan stand in competition with the big daddies of the Indian car bazaar today, comprising of Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Laura.

After the budget, Honda Motors has to revise the price of its Honda Civic sedan and increased it substantially. Therefore, it was quite obvious that the sales figures will tumble down. Right now, the top end variants with sunroof, Honda Civic V MT and Honda Civic V AT comes for a whopping price of Rs. 14.17 lakh and Rs. 14.87 lakh respectively. The base model itself will cost you around Rs. 12.58 lakh, which is too much for a sedan. Hence, it is quite clear that the price tag attached to Honda Civic is its major drawback.

Talking about its high points, Honda Civic 2012 is definitely well-equipped with ample of advanced comfort features. The eye-catching dashboard has been given a premium finish accompanied digital speedometer and blue illuminated tachometer. The interiors of the car are ergonomically designed as all the buttons in the car are easily accessible, for example the cruise control button is placed on the steering wheel. The audio system here has USB connectivity and AUX –in support. The ample of legroom and headroom makes the rear seat passengers very comfortable during the ride. The air conditioning system is undoubtedly powerful and power windows function very smoothly.

The safety department of the current Honda Civic sedan is sound and notable. The car comes with good braking system integrated with the G-CON technology. The anti lock braking system accompanied with brake assist gives a complete control of the car to the driver when immediate brakes are applied. Honda Motors has also done a lot of hard on the exteriors of the car and given the present Honda Civic good looks and attractive features. The large headlamps are very tempting and aerodynamic design make the sedan appear to be flowing and smooth.

On the whole, Honda Civic might sound as an impressive car, but not launching 2012 Honda Civic in India is good for the Indian car bazaar. The car market today is diesel dominant and the high price tag attached to 2012 Civic petrol doesn’t make it suitable for the country for now.
