Tired of Keeping up with Changing Fashions? Just Adopt Classic Style and Never Worry Again
For men, finding out about the latest fashions has never been easier. In the past, fashion was something that few men cared about, but today, we all want to look good, regardless of who we are. There are magazines, TV programmes, websites, etc. that are dedicated to the pursuit of fashion, including those that focus purely on men’s fashion. This is great, because we no longer need to struggle to find out what’s hot and what’s not; it’s just a flick of the page, a switch of thechannel, a click of the mouse away.
However, one problem that this ease of access has bought is speed: fashions are changing faster than ever before. No sooner have we caught up with a trend than it’s over and we’re off, chasing the next ‘must have’ item. Now, this is all well and good if we’re rich, if we have the time to spend doing the research, and if we are that way inclined, but for those of us who do not have these luxuries or temperaments, what is the alternative? Well, we believe that adopting a ‘classic’ fashion wardrobe is the answer. This is because, by definition, the classic look never goes out of fashion, from the shoes to the bags, when you wear classic clothes, you don’t have to bother with fashion ever again; you simply are, naturally, fashionable.
So, how do you pull off a classic look? It’s quite easy, let’s start with the upper body:
• Jackets: you need to opt for a well-fitted jacket in a block colour. Choose a dark colour, such as black, brown, or dark green/blue/red, depending on your colouring, the season and your personal preference.
• Tops: ok, so you will need a few t-shirts. These will provide the focal point to your outfit, so you can mix it up a bit here and create some interest by going for graphic prints, or bright colours. You also need a few shirts. Make sure that these are highly tailored and of a high quality material, preferably cotton.
• Trouser: if you must wear jeans then make sure that they have a very good fit; straight-legged or skinny jeans are ideal. They need to be in darker colours, so avoid unusual colours, such as white, at all costs, and never, ever, wear stonewash jeans with a classic wardrobe. A couple of pair of chinos will be great, too, making sure, again, that they fit well.
• Shoes, there are a few types of classic shoes. The oxford is extremely popular, but our favourite is the brogue. Brogue boots, in particular, add a fantastically edgy, yet classic look for any outfit. You really won’t go wrong if you choose to wear a pair of brogue boots.
The most important thing to do when buying classic clothes is to make sure that you opt for high quality clothing. High quality clothes nearly always look good, so this is the key characteristic to search for from your clothes.
