Aquatica – Water World
The most popular water theme park in Kolkata, Aquatica Kolkata is Aquatica is one of the largest water amusement parks in Kolkata as well as eastern India itself.
Spread over an area of 75,000 sq ft, Aquatica Kolkata was started in 1999. Considered to be the pioneers in Water Theme Parks, Aquatica is situated in a small town in Kouchpukur, near the Kolkata New Township.
Very well connected by road, taxis and auto-rickshaws are available from the nearby places. There is a free pick up and drop service run by the organisers Aquatica where visitors are ferried from Nicco Park to the water theme park and back free of cost.
Solely catering to water rides, Aquatica has a number of water based rides including the most popular and exciting ones like the Black Hole, the Wave Pool, Niagara Falls, surf racer, Tornado and the Aqua Dance Floor. The Black Hole is where one enters into a black hole and slides down from a height. The Tower No.1 is a 100 ft structure of convoluted tubes that takes you from a height to ground level.
Mississippi River is an artificial river flowing through the park where the visitors can swim and walk through. The crystal clear water of the river is recycled every hour.
But the main attraction of Aquatica, Kolkata is the Aqau Wave Pool where artificial waves are simulated to give a feel of the sea beach. Visitors throng to this artificial beach and at a time around 500 people can enjoy the waves pounding from all ends.
The latest introduction at Aquatica is the 65 ft high Nigra Falls, which is one of the world’s highest artificial water falls, having a complete rocky structure with a bathing capacity of 400 people at a time.
There is also a water dance floor in the park called Aqua Dance with unique features of dancing on water jet floor for the youngsters and children who would like to dance in the artificial rains.
A Go-Karting track is located adjacent to Aquatica for those who would like to try a little bit of racing. You will have to pay an extra fee as this facility is not included in the entry fee.
Aquatica has accommodation options and you can choose from an array of deluxe AC rooms and suits. The complex has other facilities like conference hall, party hall, board room, shopping areas, multi-cuisine vegetarian restaurant, food courts and other amenities like locker facilities.
Aquatica Kolkata remains open on all days of the week from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm. The entrance fee for an adult is Rs. 200 on weekdays and Rs. 250 on holidays. For children it is Rs. 150 on weekdays and Rs. 175 on holidays.
