What is the meaning of life?
Nop, it’s not 42 or any other number, as thousands nowadays would say (why? google why)
‘What is the meaning of life?’ is the age old inquiry that keeps haunting folks generation after generation. Which is, if you come to think of it, quite odd. Not that it is such an irrelevant question, no, on the contrary, a more eminent one would be acutely difficult to find. The astonishing thing about this question, i think, is that after eons of time trying to answer this question, we still, to this very day, haven’t really found a satisfying answer to it. Otherwise we would have stopped asking this question by now and would already be very clocked up with the next question (if there is any, that is). And that is, in my humble belief, a little sad, isn’t it?
I mean, here we are. With 7 billion on some bulky ball or planet, alone (we assume) in this absurd dark infinity, fighting our day-to-day lives for supremacy on whatever degree you can think of, and still the most profound we can come up with is to ask what’s it all about, anyway? Que? This then automatically means that we absolutely have no clue what we are doing on an everyday basis at all, it seems. Or does it? Otherwise we would not only know the answer and stopped asking that same old one, no, we, by Jove, would actually DO what life is about. We would actually have a real experience. Imagine that!
O, we do know what we are doing then, you believe? You mean slaving away to massively pay taxes for conquering countries in the name of spreading democracy and then carry off their natural resources and above all making the world’s economy florish like as if it was some sort of a freak doctrine is a contemplative and sensible activity, you say? Is that what it’s all about? I don’t think so, but i know one thing: a whole lot of people do, day in and day out they do. You can see that every evening in the daily news on the tube.
If you take another look at this whole situation from another overview and decide that it’s actually quite weird (if not to say ‘unfair’) not to know the answer collectively in such a curious habitat we call earth (you would think that would be the least thing we are entitled too), One could say that asking ‘what is the meaning of life?’ again and again implies not only that we don’t know but also maybe that we don’t know ‘anymore’. How’s that for a new point of view? Maybe, by reversing the complete bugaboo, ?this little word ‘anymore’ could be a little part of the puzzle and could lead us in a whole new course of permanently finding an answer. Because that would shed a whole other light on this situation because it implies that we once, a long long time ago, did know, but that something happened and that we forgot. What if?
Does this resonates with you? Does this view excites you? It does with me, i can tell you that!
Could we collectively, as a species, suffer from an amnesia that is so overpowering it mutates us into mean egomaniacal psychopaths in posh clothes as camouflage and creates this really freaky and highly limited realness we describe as cities and roads? Even if still asking ourselves ‘what is the meaning of life?’ because possibly we forgot, i still think we need to find the answer. Or remember.
I’ve fabricated this little video as a trailer for a book i wrote on this whole affair. Maybe it brings back some memories when you look at it.
What is the meaning of life and what’s it all about?
In this trailer for my book i give you some hints of what to expect.
