Industrial relations
According to me Industrial relations represent the old world whereas human resource management represents the new. I am in agreement with this suggestion because of the reasons explained below.
Industrial relation involves the behaviors and rules that pertain to the affairs of employees and their employers at their places of work. According to my views industrial relations clearly represents the old world because it has not clearly expressed some issues that require serious attention. Industrial relations have not clearly elaborated how the management accomplishes its roles. According to the statutory and legislation orders many people have been left out with many questions behind their minds about industrial regulation, this well shows that it is a system that represents the old generation of people. Another reason why I see that industrial relations represent the old world is that the system did not give trade unions room to express their feelings. Also under the collective agreements industrial relation isolated employees from raising their views.
The rules that also govern industrial relations are characterized by being poorly define and illogical. Since these rules do not clearly represent employee’s industrial relation is seen to represent the old world when workers use to be miss-treated by working for many hours earning very poor salaries. Under industrial relations rules were arrive at merely through an agreement, which appeared as a norm.
In industrial relations the rules at various places of work merely give out structures concerning the minimum right and rules that employees are required to follow. This clearly shows that industrial relations represent the old world because human resources management is greatly concerned with improving the welfares of employees by making them feel comfortable while they are working. The industrial relations internal regulations is concerned with matters that affect the discipline of employees, issues of employee redundancies, but it is unfortunate that with all this the issues greatly affecting employees were not clearly solved in reducing problems those employees faced.
It has been noted that here in Australia those bodies involved with collective bargaining have tended to dwell mostly on procedures than on substantive rules.
Industrial relations issues are mostly governed with collective bargaining. Collective bargaining is the system of turning disagreements into agreements in an orderly manner.
