Christmas gift ideas for grandad and grandma
It’s xmas! Well not quite, though it is certainly moving closer fast and as such this day is the classic time to start your christmas shopping for gifts for your grandad and grandma. In the anticipated festive time, why not treat your grandma to a gift that will make them smile for years to come. For me I’m opting for an item intimate, as i really like the idea of the grandad and grandma having an item to share on xmas day, an item that they unwrap as one and be fond of in unison for many a year to come. Well, actually, the fiancee and i are presently thinking of one “large” souvenir for the grandparents to take a part of and an singular lesser gift or two for both of them, hopefully this will give them the best of both worlds as they each also get a few small items to unwrap.
For my fiancee’s grandparents we’re considering the ever favorite individual pillows as the mutual gift for christmas, we already procured a set of these for my own grandparents last year and they were an immense hit so that without doubt makes the choice simpler this time around. As for the individual lesser present, for grandad i think some translucent whiskey glasses will be ideal as he’s an extravagant fan of the occasional dram of whiskey. For grandma, the choice is a little more trickier, currently we’re deciding between a case of personalised red wine or a personalised silvered photo frame complete with photos of the grandchildren. I’m going to leave the ultimate choice on this up to my fiancee, and i don’t envy her, it’s a tough choice for certain!
We think it’s really important to think about what it is your grandad likes to do, for example if they have any hobbies or such as this will make an perfect basis for picking a souvenir for them. Incidentally my own grandad, is an extravagant fishing believer and fond of the occasional tipple to say the least and both of these hobbies give a good basis for choosing a souvenir. Now whilst i may not know much about fishing, i do know the essentials i.e. that it’s often cold and windy out fishing, therefore a good idea for a related gift would be perhaps an etched hip flask complete with a bottle of their favorite drink. Moving onto gran, her preferred hobbies are knitting and gardening and whilst i confess i know little to nothing about knitting, i may have to leave this one up to my fiancee, however gardening i do know about. As such perhaps a befitting present would be a gardening diary, or perhaps a personalised set of gardening gear again the key here is to give an item that they will use for years to come so each time they pick up said item they will see the individual message and be able to reminisce.
