Terrorism and the US government
Introduction:
Terrorism is nowadays the biggest issue that is concerning all the countries of the world no matter what is their geographic location. Whether it is in Asia, North America or the Europe and Africa, no one is same from the terrorist activities.
In the recent years, right after the disaster of 9/11, the issue of terrorism has become the most debatable and hyped around the world and the need to crush the terrorists from the face of the world has become inevitable. United States being the first big victim of the terrorist activities initiated this campaign against terrorists and is still doing so with the help of its ally countries. This research will see how United States look at the terrorists in different phases and what steps it has taken to overcome this issue.
Background:
After the occurrence of 9/11 incident, UN and USA in accordance with the international rules which gives USA the right to take steps for its security, a worldwide operation was started against terrorists. It was found that Al-Qaeda was involved in these terrorist activities governed by Osama Bin Laden who was living in Afghanistan.
The first strike started in Afghanistan against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. The strikes then continued in Iraq and the status of Iran and North Korea were under deep checks who were considered to be the extremists in their approach. Pakistan also gets involved in these activities as an ally of USA due to its geographical importance (Flynn, 2005). This research will see how of all these occurring are affecting the status of USA.
Thesis:
How USA is looking at the perseverance of its national security and how the steps affect USA and how much success USA has got from these operations?
Arguments:
The state of emergency has started for the world with the disaster of 9/11. An air of insecurity was seen all over the world. USA being the superpower was taking this act seriously as it was the matter of national security. American citizens all around the world were being targeted and the matters was becoming very difficult to handle unless until some harsh steps would be formulized to take place (Pillar, 2004). The issue became international and peace in the world became a big debate.
The importance of the issue was very much for the USA. The affects on the US economy after this could have made the problems all over the world. In order to make USA and the world safe place, a major military strike was inevitable that took place preceding the 9/11 attacks. A probability of future attacks was the biggest concern of USA and that made USA to invade on the terrorist camps. America has always insisted on the term ‘freedom’ and that is what it has always provided to its people. An attack like this was enough to awake the giant.
