The Best Costume Party Ever
Are you planning on hosting a theme costume party, but still undecided on what theme to use? Nowadays, there are hundreds of theme ideas readily available on the internet and on your favorite costume shops. Some of the most popular themes range from the renaissance period, angels and demons, the ancient times, current events, and even politics! Each theme has its own pros and cons and aren?t really fit to be used at any time. It depends on the current time and season, and the guests who will be coming. And of course, it depends on YOU so you have to plan cautiously.
You should always plan everything as per the time and season. A Hawaiian theme costume party cannot be organized in the middle of winters nor can the Halloween costume party be organized in the month of April! Also make sure that the venue is spacious enough so as to accommodate all the decorations for the selected theme and if the costumes to be donned as per the selected theme won?t make the guests feel uncomfortable. Choose the theme as per the venue or vice versa. For example, if the weather is cold, then don?t choose the theme which will make people go for the men?s costume or women?s costume not covering much skin.
Deciding upon the age group of the guests is important as the theme should match the age group attending the party. If the majority of guests attending the party are children than animals?, superheroes?, cartoon characters? etc themes should be chosen. And if the majority of the guests are going to be adults or teens, themes such as imitating celebrities, their favorite or least favorite professors, priests, prostitutes, pirates etc would be fine. Or something which might give them a chance to show off their personality or which is reveling can be selected
Send the invites to the guests a good 4-5 weeks in advance. This will not only give them time to plan accordingly but also to select the desired costumes they are intending to wear. If the invites are sent to the guests before that; there are great chances of losing the invitation card and then loitering around for the costumes when the party is nearing. Sending the invites too late, sometime around the party itself, is also not advisable as it will leave the guests looking for the right costume and will only end up wearing normal clothes, not the costumes.
A good idea is to mention the list of costumes on the invitation card itself. This will not only make the guest choose the right costume but will also save them form wearing a wrong costume which might make them feel excluded in the party. Also if you are familiar with any of the costume shops owner, don?t forget them to mention the address of the shop and the contact information. This will enable the guests to get the costumes at one place and they will not have to hop from store to store for the right thing. They can get the costumes at discounted rates and will surely get the right costume as the shop owner will aware of the theme (you should have told him)
If you want every guest to abide by the prescribed type of costume the you can always mention some of the examples of the costumes that the guests are expected to wear and also write the punishment for those who flout form the rule. Making the defaulter write ?I will not come to any costume party without a costume? n number of times if the party theme is school or university, or drenching the defaulter in water if the theme is underwater are some examples.
Whatever the theme is, make it as comfortable as possible; as inexpensive as it can be; and as attention catching as possible! And make them feel that they?re welcome at the party no matter if they were able to arrive in a costume or not; after all, the people and friends you?ve invited are more important and more special than the costumes itself. And make the atmosphere at the party fun, exciting, and memorable; because soon, it won?t be the men?s costumes they wore that they?ll be remembering; it will be the fun time they had and the unforgettable experience they felt that they can keep for a lifetime.
