Cows brought up in grass fields have 2 to 4 times more Vitamin E than those reared in feed lots. A lot argue that raising cows in a feedlot is not only unhealthy for the animals, but can also have detrimental effects on the food supply. Animals brought up in feedlots are continually given antibiotics which can directly lead to the development an antibiotic-resistant bacteria or a “superbug”. If such a bacterium was to spread it would be very complicated to stop it since current vaccines would be ineffective.
Grass fed cattle raised at pasture can have a healthy effect on the environment. Manure from the cattle is returned naturally to the atmosphere where is can promote vegetation. Meanwhile large scale factory farm cattle produce a large amount of waste which often time’s just gets put in large piles where it is left to release methane into the earth.
