Recognizing The Symptoms Of Anxiety

The symptoms of anxiety are so many that some can appear as relatively normal reactions to certain situations. Anxiety can actually be a result of a disorder that may be plaguing a person for some time now. While it is normal to be anxious when certain occurrences happen, there is such a thing as an overwhelming response to factors which one should have an adequate anxiety for. It is imperative to deal with the correct diagnosis of the symptoms of anxiety in order to treat it if there is a need to as early as possible.

Physical Symptoms Of Anxiety

There are so many different physical symptoms of anxiety that it is best to generalize some of them in order to keep this short. The face area is one of the first places where the physical symptoms of anxiety often manifest. A person may blush, sweat in the head excessively, pale, feel a prickly or burning sensation in the ears, scalp and nape, experience a tic or twitch in facial muscles, a headache, nausea, lightheadedness and uncoordinated speech. While these symptoms of anxiety are generally located in the head area, other areas of the body may also manifest anxiety as well.

The chest region is another area that experiences many manifestations of the symptoms of anxiety. A tightening of the chest and difficulty in breathing may be attributed as symptoms of anxiety. Elevated heart rate, chest pains, pounding heart and a sinking feeling in the chest are also signs of a panic attack. The body in general may also feel the symptoms and these are often seen in trembling hands, flu like symptoms in the body overall, a rash or a rise in allergic reactions, muscle aches and pains, night sweats or hot flashes, stiff muscles, fatigue or malaise and weight loss or gain.

Mental Symptoms Of Anxiety

These symptoms may be the more dangerous compared to the physical ones. Depression is a sign of anxiety and so is hyperactivity. A person who feels anxious will feel sensitive to how other people may perceive him or her and may misconstrue a lot of things and take them to heart even when these things were meant lightly. Other mental or emotional symptoms of anxiety are a sense of surrealism, feelings of inadequacies, becoming obsessive compulsive towards little things, nitpicking, sudden shyness, the development of bad dreams and the eventual spiral to depression.

These symptoms of anxiety may be construed as having a disorder connected to anxiety but while these are general symptoms of an anxiety disorder, there may be other symptoms that one will need to look out for.
