Baby Birthday Party Ideas
Your baby’s first or second birthday party is bound to be a whole lot of fun for everyone in attendance. Choosing a theme for the party will help you when it comes time to shop for supplies and it will also be helpful in pulling together the invitations, paper goods, favors, games and a cake so that they all match the theme. Knowing the theme will also make it easier to pick up all of these party supplies in one place instead of having to run from store to store later once you’ve decided on the type of party to throw.
A nice theme idea for a young child’s birthday party is an animal or zoo theme. You could set the stage with an array of stuffed zoo animals, photos and posters. The kids could wear animal masks that could easily be found at stores selling birthday party supplies. Paper plates could be found which depict cute baby animals. There are even DVDs that feature zoo animals you could play for the children at some point in the party.
Another theme idea for a young child’s birthday party is colors. Bright colors and simplicity is the key to this theme. You could decorate your home with brightly colored streamers and balloons and ask the adults who come to dress in solid, bright colors. The birthday cake can also be colorful as red or green food color can be mixed into plain white frosting.
A sure hit at a young child’s party is an Old MacDonald theme. You could create a farm scene at the party using a variety of stuffed animals and toys. You can make farm animal hats for the young ones to wear. You also can take a look around to see if you can find some plastic farm animals like chickens and ducks to set on the cake table. And of course, the adults could sing a rousing round of the Old MacDonald song which would surely delight the youngsters.
Be sure to keep the party short. An hour and a half is long enough for 1 to 2 years olds. It is not a bad idea to note the duration of the party on the invitations you send out. It is also a good idea to mention what types of gifts would be appreciated. For instance, if your young child needs bedding, mention to your guests that baby crib bedding sets are welcomed gifts. Or if you would like them to bring toys, be sure to mention that your son or daughter would be delighted to receive a few age-appropriate toys.
