- Target audience. Not knowing the people that you’re writing your articles for can hurt you in this endeavor. You see, there’s no way that you can impress them if you don’t know exactly what to offer them. This is the reason why I highly recommend that you gather as much information as possible about your target audience. Get to know the information that they’re looking for and their preferences. This is the only way that you’ll be empowered to make your articles very focused and perfectly targeted.
- Write for your readers. Most people think that SEO writing is all about stuffing articles with keywords or writing articles solely for search engines. Well, this is simply not true. As a writer, you should focus first on addressing the needs of your target audience. If you can make these people happy, I can guarantee you that search engines will reward you accordingly. Give them useful information and great learning experience by making your articles content-rich and interesting to read.
- Write for the search engines. After writing your articles and after making sure that they’re reader-friendly, the next thing that you need to do is to optimize them. Start by identifying the most popular keywords in your niche which are closely related to the topics that you’re discussing. Insert these keywords on your titles, on the first 90 characters, at least once on each of your paragraphs, and on the last sentence of the article. Don’t forget to insert relevant terms or keywords that might also being used by your target audience when they’re looking for specific information that is relevant to the theme of your website or to the products that you sell. This technique, which is often called latent semantic indexing, will help the search spiders in quickly analyzing the content of each of your articles. Before you distribute your articles online, ensure that their keyword density is 2% or less (to avoid issue about keyword spamming) and that your keywords are at least 50-100 words apart. You may also use HTML codes if you’re thinking about publishing your articles to HTML sites.
