Hostel travel is great for those traveling on a budget. Here is some information to help you become familiar with hostel travel.
What To Expect
Hostel travel is when you stay in various hostels in order to either enjoy the experience more or save money. These hostels have dormitory style accommodations for travelers. Those who use this travel will find themselves bunking in a room with anywhere from one roommate to a dozen roommates. The room sizes vary, and as such so does the occupancy. However, if you do not want to share a room with strangers many hostels offer single and double rooms that cost a bit more than the normal hostel travel. However, even with a single room you will still be sharing a common bathroom.
One of the greatest aspects of hostel travel is that you will be forced to interact with so many other people. Many people who have plenty of money to travel by staying in normal hotels choose this travel for this very reason. You will meet so many different people through hostel travel.
Hostel travel does come with rules and regulations that other types of travel might not have. For example, many hostels impose a curfew on the guests. This is so that other guests are not disturbed by those who are out at all hours of the night and also so that the hostel can lock the doors for safety reasons. However, you can find some hostel travel stations that allow you to come and go at all hours. Remember when you stay at a hostel like that that you will most likely be disturbed in the middle of the night by a drunken individual getting back from a binge!
Some hostel travel will limit the number of days that you can stay at a specific hostel, but this is very rare. Most hostels in Europe do not limit the number of nights at all. However, even if your hostel does not limit the number of days you can stay, chances are you will have to either bring your own sheets and towels. Many seasoned hostel travelers will bring their own homemade sleep sack that includes a sleeping bag and sheet, so you should definitely think about that with your hostel travel.
If you know what hostel you will be staying at, you can always call ahead and ask for specific information on what to bring and what to expect. That way there will be no surprises with your hostel travel and you can simply enjoy your stay!
