Illegal Pyramid Vs. Legal Pyramid
What I’m about to describe to you, is the average day for 97% of the Network Marketers that fail. Envision the humor of it, but relate to the seriousness of it.
You pull into the Starbucks parking lot. You check your image…after you realize that you look decent enough to prospect, you walk through the entrance. Your phone is strapped to your waist and your eyes are scanning the room for someone sharp. Your hoping to find “THE ONE”…that one person that will make you a “Super Duper Diamond 5th Level Presidential Action Figure” You see him/her standing in line and you present F.O.R.M. to this person (Family, Occupation, Recreation, Message). You pitch your company name, and finally, THEY ASK THE BIG QUESTION. “Is this one of those “PYRAMID SCHEME THINGS?” ( Imagine being ask that question in slow motion. )
At that very moment your waiting on your thoughts from your brain to arrive to your mouth, but you know that somewhere in between the two, your thoughts are stuck in a traffic jam! By then, you are praying for your cell phone to ring, but it doesn’t. And you know why it won’t ring….its because you haven’t paid your bill. Next, you wish for someone to yell fire, but there is not a flame in sight! Last but not least, your hoping if you could just pee on yourself and be excused, you wouldn’t have to answer the “MOST ASKED QUESTION IN MLM HISTORY” (Now that would be weird!!!)
Never Fear, The Guy In The Blue Shirt is Here! So you may think, there’s nobody on this planet that can have this kind of experience. Well my friend, this story in so up my alley, that it brings back a lot memories. I have other stories that would make you laugh so hard that you would loose your gall bladder! Don’t have time for it, I have to equip you with answers on what to say when they nuke you with this question.
First of all say YES! “It is a pyramid!” You are the only one in the world that figured it out! You get the “I Figured It Out Award”.
( I’m really being sarcastic ) In essence everything is a pyramid based or shape. For example, look at our government, our churches, board of advisors committee, social clubs, coporate America.
A legal pyramid is the cash flow of money going up and the cash flow of money going down. That means the newest guy/girl can get involved and work his/her way past the person that sponsored them. I’ve seen it over and over. From Amway to Xango, Mary Kay to Herbal Life. I like the idea that I can outwork and out earn my sponser. An illegal pyramid is the cash flow of money going up, but the cash flow of money isn’t coming down. In other words you can’t make anymore money that the guy that brought you in.
If you really understand what I’m explaining to you, this can totally change your outlook on things. No offense, but the biggest pyramid scheme out there is a person’s job. Think about it, you can’t make more money than the guy/girl ( YOUR BOSS NAME HERE ) that hired you! I remember working for a fast food restaurant. I was on register #3. With my personal skills and positive attitude, I help bring in over 7,000 for that particular company in an 9 hr or so work period. I was only paid a little over $70 dollars for that time frame. I’d greet customers, upsold product, and got compensated for what that position was worth. This is just one example I use to demonstrate the difference between a legal and illegal pyramid.
So now you have the proper tools that you need to stand with confidence! Be bold my friend. So when someone ask if your business is a pyramid, don’t wish for the phone to ring, yell “Fire”, or even at worse, pee on yourself.
