Electrical training graduates to build schools for the future
Those considering signing up for an electrical training course might be interested to learn that electrical and mechanical engineers from MITIE are installing commissioning valves, check valves, ball valves and strainers in the heating and cooling system of a prestigious new school development in Devon.
Devon County Council is showcasing specialist science institution Bideford College as a national benchmark for the Building Schools for the Future programme.
It is trying to make the college as close as possible to carbon neutral by using systems that burn woodchip rather than gas.
These systems will be controlled by a building management system (BMS) which will monitor temperatures and automatically maintain a comfortable environment for students.
Keith Dixon, senior mechanical engineer with property consultancy NPS South West, which helped developed the BMS, said that commissioning valves from Crane Fluid Systems allowed the firm to accurately regulate and balance flow rates in the system.
