Install A Dishwasher Without A Plumber
For installing a new dishwasher, you need to hire a plumber. However, if you want to save some money then you can also do it on your own. It is not very difficult to do and you just need to follow some simple steps for installing it. For doing it, you need some tools such as screwdriver, multimeter, slip-joint pliers, needle-nose pliers and adjustable wrench.
In below mentioned paragraphs, we will discuss about the steps involved in installing a dishwasher. Before installing a new dishwasher, you first need to remove the old one and also clean the area where the old dishwasher was installed.
Now position the new dishwasher and connect the drain hose with a compression clamp. Wrap the water line connection with Teflon tape and attach the 90-degree brass fitting that is used to connect the water line, also known as dishwasher 90.
Make the adjustment of front legs in a way that you can easily slide the unit at its destined location. You also need to slide the drain hose under the sink.
Connect the water line underneath the dishwasher and pass the electric cable through the sleeve on the dishwasher. Tight the same so that the cable could not be pulled out. Now make all the connections of the wire: ground wire to the green screw, white wire to white screw and black wire to black screw. Use wire nuts to secure the connection.
After this connect the new drain hose and fill the water line by opening the hot water valve. Properly check if there is any leak in the system. If any leaks occur, recheck all the connections and test again. Once you are sure that there are no leaks then go ahead.
Adjust front legs of the dishwasher and position it properly on a level. Drive the small mounting screws into the underside of the counter top through the flange in order to attach the dishwasher to the counter top. Reconnect the water supply line. Turn on the power and your dishwasher is ready to act.
By following above mentioned steps, you can get your dishwasher installed. Be careful while making electrical connections. It is very important to switch off the power supply before making the connections.
