Game Overview – Crasher

Define Crasher is not easy. However, we can speak of a mixture of MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena or online battle arena) and classic action game. Two teams of 2 to 5 players compete in arenas at the wheel of vehicles maxiens mad-for-choice – to capture the opponent’s base or capture specific control points. The second thing to know is that these vehicles are divided into six classes and each of these six classes is customizable to As levels earned. Because funny games won (or lost for that matter) to supply a bar experiment to provide more equipment and expertise to your ouatures. It does remind you of anything? League of Legends? DotA? Crash was inspired by these two titles … To better distinguish them.

For if Crasher broadly in line with the principles of MOBA, he does not forget to add a good dose of action. The first camera does not lie on top of his vehicle, but well behind. The second feature, what are the controls. Here, we do not click frantically on a bunch of mob, it directly controls his tank / motorcycle with the arrow keys on the keyboard. The left and right buttons of the mouse used in turn to move the camera to look right and left. It’s a bit disorienting at first, but it only takes a few minutes to take the matter in hand. Finally, the last point, unlike a conventional DotA-like, there is neither tower nor monsters controlled by the AI to knock out.

Now that we’ve been a bit part, it’s time to get into the thick of it. We are thus installed on the PC to a developer for a small multiplayer session. First thing to do before entering the game, choose your vehicle. Six classes, six ways to play. The names are not yet final, we know that more general classes of melee (charge into enemy vehicles to cause damage), a class of engineer to lay mines, a repairer to give a helping hand to friends, a faster vehicle to harass the enemy, a tank to collect damages, etc., etc.. Each of these has six vehicles on the battlefield of four special abilities that are defined before entering. For the Berserker, the vehicle melee that I chose for this session, I had a barrage of rockets, with a capacity to increase the size of my hummer and cause more damage, or the ability to stop for a short period of time an enemy and finally circle a kinetic to push / repel opponents a little too sticky. Added to this is two things. The first is a unique capability available for all classes and we map the key space. Here we had a choice between a rocket jump and a speed boost. The second thing is the establishment of Skills situation, which is chosen before entering the arena. Situations Skills, these are skills that are activated according to a specific situation. For example, by charging three times in an opponent, the fourth stroke cause 20% more damage.

Once the arena is the teamplay that counts. We played on a map in which both teams fought a checkpoint. Once one of the two took the point, the other team must destroy it, then a new area to be controlled appears on the card. It is no secret to win, we must organize a minimum. While specialists melee wreak havoc in the opposing troops, the other bomb and repairers healent. It’s nervous, definitely fun and surprisingly easy to understand that what was feared at first. The arenas in which there are ongoing clashes have obviously had a lot of attention right from Punchers Impact and systematically allow multiple paths (sometimes high) to surprise his opponents. In short, we remain on good impressions for a first (short) test.

There are still many things to say about Crasher. As it stands, if there’s one thing we can not blame him is his lack of depth. However difficult to decide on the look of the thing, the version that was shown we are still in beta. This will be remembered, however, to conclude this presentation is that Crash is scheduled for early next year on PC only. And my gut tells me it could be that Steam and Steamworks is a great behind to make everything work. Appointments early next year to take stock of the first title.
