Audemars Piguet Pride of China – Another Miracle
Audemars Piguet, with a history of more than 100 years, created another miracle by holding a ceremony to release its limited edition Royal Oak Watch named “Pride of China” in Raffles Beijing Hotel on Oct 13th, 2008. Stepping into the ceremony, all the guests present not only appreciated the highly skilled manufacturing process but also enjoyed the comfortable and warm home feeling. In order to demonstrate the design concept of this watch, CEO Wolfgang Sickenberg and the design manager Octavio Garcia attended the event.
Since its beginning in 1875, Audemars Piguet has been making countless achievements in horological bound by right of its advanced and innovative technology as well as traditional and excellent craft. The year 2008 to Audemars Piguet was a milestone in history for it launched especially this watch to Chinese market by combining the centenary perfect craftsmanship with the 5,000 ¨C year – long Chinese history. On the scene the design manager Octavio Garcia started to draw improvisationally a picture with a pencil and within minutes concluded the rudiment of this watch, presenting magically it before everyone.
Audemars Piguet this time incorporated skillfully the chinese elements into the craft. Remarkably, only the 8 o’ clock position uses a figure, fully embodying the importance of the figure, which symbolizes auspicious wishes. In addition, engraved on the back cover, the pattern of the Great Wall embodies Chinese nation spirit. And all the guests present were impressed by the ideal combination between Audemars Piguet’ s centenary craft and 5,00 ¨C year – long chinese culture.
Useing the newly – designed 3123/3909 self winding movement, the watch can be sorted into two series, one with black dial and the other one silvery dial, but both the two series ‘ bezels are made of rose gold. This series is published with a limit in China and available only in the stores specialized in selling Audemars Piguet.
Up to now, Audemars Piguet is devoting itself to the the manufacture of the intricate mechanical watches with excellent craft and unique originality, creating constantly a miracle after another.
