Reviewing The Panasonic TX-P50G20 TV
The Panasonic TX-P50G20 – An Initial Review
Now everyone is in the market to stretch the pound as far as they can. Panasonic answers this call by putting out the TX-P50G20. This 50″ plasma screen television set is definitely going to be a top performer in this market. This new generation TV comes complete with the newest technology in plasma screen and uses noticeably less power than the plasmas of the past.
One of the biggest concerns with plasma screen televisions is how easily the screen could be damaged. With the new line of Panasonic televisions, like the Panasonic TX-P50G20 they have addressed this issue with the “tough screen” technology. This screen can withstand slight collisions and not be damaged. This is high technology considering the basic features on this model.
Despite the basic features the Panasonic TX-P50G20 TV set has an HD TV screen that displays the picture in exacting sharpness. The 1,920 x 1080 pixels let you see the sharpness from across the living room. The ideal viewing distance will be in the TV set operation and manual guide.
There seems to be some kind of competition between Panasonic and Sony over how many “Hertz your screen resolution operates on. The number to match is “600 Hertz” and Sony is marketing this heavily. Now Panasonic is telling its potential customers that they have “600 Hertz Intelligent Frame Creation Pro” on their televisions. The trick here is that Panasonic has a sub title to this and it is “sfd”, that’s short for “sub field drive”. Panasonic is a little ahead in technology and is actually displaying its pixels in 100 Hertz but because of the “Intelligent Frame Creation”, there is full fluid motion.
No matter what all these figures and facts mean, as a consumer, you should be interested in the sharpness and clarity of the picture. After all that is what you buy a TV set for, right?
During special wave length tests, it was reported that the TX-P50G20 television set exhibited a small amount of flickering, not noticeable to the viewing eye. There were also rumblings of some flickering during DVD movie viewing.
The Panasonic TX-P50G20 TV set scored extremely high on the scale when it came to picture quality. In the color scale it scored a 9 out of 10. On it’s contrast it was a 10 out of 10. The picture was reported the same no matter which angle you looked at it.
This Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20 TV was reported to only have very basic features. We did find, however, that the Panasonic came with a slot for SD and SDHC cards so you can view your JPEG and AVCHD pictures and videos.
The Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20 comes ready to receive all the current types of transmission in use today. There is one potentially aggravating omission though. The television set is not equipped to use the new C1 Plus access that some cable companies are contemplating switching to.
If you are in the market for a no frills quality television set, the Panasonic TX-P50G20 is the television that you will want to consider seriously. Granted, this is not a television that you would want if you are looking for all the modern day technology. If you are looking for a good picture and a quality brand, this is it.
