Electrical training apprentices to install valves at Chelmsford hospital

Electrical training apprentices could be among those working on a project to install a range of valves, strainers and commissioning stations at an Essex hospital.

The new hospital wing at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford – which houses Accident and Emergency services and a regional burns and plastic centre – stands to benefit from a series of probalance commissioning valves.

Ball, butterfly and check valves which will also be built in by Shepherd Engineering Services (SES) as part of a £14.2 million contract.

SES site manager Jim Stewart said that an extensive co-ordination process was conducted to ensure smooth management of the services.

“Prefabricated HVAC modules are being built offsite before installation onto the five floors of the building and the seven plant rooms,” he stated.

He added that the firm chose to use valves by Crane Fluid Systems, which it considers a supplier of quality, cost-effective solutions which enable a quick and efficient installation.
