The inability of the women to have leisure is a serious problem in the present America. People have decided to become workaholics so that they cab be able to meet the requirements of the ever rising high standards if living. It has a very serious social problem in the American society that many families have broken and disintegrated because of inability to spare sometime for leisure. Since the topic touches directly on the lives of many women and affects almost every member of the society, I decided to choose it so that more information can come out through discussing it, find out why this is happening and finally found out the remedy for this. The topic is very interesting because it gives out the deeper feelings of many Americans on this crucial social problem affecting them (Bonebright, C.A, Clay, D.L 2000).

Everybody desires to have leisure for her and that of the family members once in a while. Some people plan for it while others don’t even remember to spare sometime for leisure. At the same time some women especially those married work all throughout their lives without themselves a break for reflection, refreshing and meditation. This has greatly changed their lifestyle, behavior and has affected the lives of their families and those close to them. Leisure means time free from work or other duties. This is the time when an individual takes time off from all other activities to relax and enjoy. It is meant for refreshing and brining back wellness and happiness the person
The inability for leisure for the Americas started to become a problem when the standards and costs of living became high, and the daily demands increased. The responsibilities of each individual especially those working became increased as they had the responsibility of taking care of many people e.g. wife, children, immediate family members, extended family members and friends. This was the beginning point of more struggles, working all through to meet the demands of life and having very little or no time for the family and friends. Men are the most victims as they are the heads of their families and the women are the most affected from this problem, but they are the ones who are blamed when there is a misunderstanding in the family
The notions of leisure and the leisure time are thought to have emerged in the Victorian Britain in the nineteenth century and late during the industrial revolution. Even though the factories worked for many hours, more efficient machinery and the emergence of the workers trade unions resulted to decreased working hours per a day. But with time, there was demand for more goods from these factories as the population was increasing, the working hours had to be extended and people were given opportunities to work for more extra hours (Cross, Garry, and S. 2004).
