Immediate Purity with Refrigerator Water Filters
Immediate Purity with Refrigerator Water Filters
One of the most popular features of new refrigerator models are included water filters. Sometimes, these are accessible from the outside without opening the door, while other times consumers can find models that have internal water filters. The internal ones generally only produce water (and sometimes the freezer will have a separate ice maker attached), while the external ones almost always have a combination of ice and fresh, exquisite water. Refrigerator water filters are cheap to maintain and one of the easiest ways to get pure water, especially considering that no extra work is required.
Maintenance
The most work that you will have to do with a refrigerator water filter is replace the filtration cartridge about once every six months. These commonly cost anywhere from thirty to fifty dollars, although bulk packages can usually save you some additional money. That’s pure water for as little as twenty cents a day, and when you consider not only the harmful bacteria that are removed but also other substances like chlorine and natural minerals, refrigerator water filters are well worth their cheap cost. Considering that such a filter doesn’t add much cost onto a fridge model, it’s an economic way to get purified water without installing expensive systems in your home.
One downside to refrigerator water filters is that they tend to be smaller than some other models of water filters. They aren’t less effective at removing harmful substances from the water. They’re just slower at doing it. Therefore, what might take a minute to filter for a full sized system might take a fridge filter two minutes. Cost versus speed is a choice that you’ll have to make on your own, but just consider that the water you get out of the fridge filter will be delicious, cold, and crisp. You can’t say the same for a faucet filter.
There are tons of fridge models available from names you can trust, like Whirlpool, PUR, and Frigidaire. They all offer replacement cartridges, even for discontinued fridge models, so you can rest assured that your fridge water filter can be used for years and years to come. The most work that you’ll have to do is hooking up the fridge to the water line, and this might take a professional installation team to accomplish if you’ve never done any plumbing work around the house before. Even so, refrigerator water filters are great alternatives to faucet filters from the likes of Brita and PUR.
