How the Right Type of Website Design Can Help Your Business
When I recently told a friend that our company was investing in a complete redesign of our website, he responded simply – “Is that really going to impact your bottom line?” While I was initially surprised by his reaction, I later realized that this sentiment is too often shared by many in the business community. As a result, I have developed my “Three C’s of Web Design” to instill – confidence, conversion and community.
Confidence
“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” While we’re all familiar with this cliché lesson, we also realize that it’s not reality. In today’s world, and particularly on the Internet, it is difficult and expensive to grab someone’s attention. And when you finally do, you only have it for a few seconds. First impressions are everything. An attractive, clean website design will instantly instill confidence in your potential customer.
Conversion
Once you’ve created this initial confidence, it must be followed by a clear call to action. Again, you may only have a few seconds to help your visitor take the critical step from interest to action. A great design will optimize the user experience around that call to action, transforming visitors into customers.
Community
Gone are the days when a company’s website should simply be a one-way flow of information. Customers expect the opportunity to voice their opinion and to interact with other customers. Building a community of loyal, active users can outperform any other marketing channel in driving new business. However, building this community does not happy on its own – it requires creating the right type of website that fosters this type of interaction.
So next time your company is considering whether or not to invest time and money on a website redesign, consider the benefits that will come from increased confidence, conversion and community with your customers.
