Psychotherapy And Mental Health

Mental health is important in the lives of all people. Even if there is no exact and precise definition that can be given to the name, mental health can be defined as the expressions of attitude of a person and the manner in which life is being approached. It is important in such a way that it depicts how people will react to the stimulus caused by their environment and other psychological factors that might trigger certain reactions. Hence, it cannot be denied that no alteration must be made in order to keep a person from responding properly to life’s circumstances. To fully understand the importance of mental, it must be noted that it reflects self-image. Every human being is trained to appreciate the beauty of achievements and while there are achievements, there are also shortcomings to which a person must learn to accept as well. A healthy mental health would normally rejoice during achievements and learn from their shortcomings which make a person strive harder in order to improve. However, an unhealthy mental status develops inferiority, hatred to oneself, a sense of uselessness and depression.
It is in this regard that there is an urgency to develop ways and means that will help people to cope up with the challenges of life. Mental health enables and disables people to properly react on different situations. For example, there are people that in order to run away from problems would resort to intoxicating themselves rather than facing the problems head on. In addition, relationships, sleep, eating and physical health comprise mental health. In all these aspects, people tend to react differently and there are instances wherein the reactions are negative that resulted to more depression and inferior feeling. Hence, psychotherapy has been applied in order to improve the mental health of people. It is by reintroducing new values that people are able to have their mental health improved.

The main role of the therapists in dealing with their clients is to ensure that the strengths of the clients are being brought into the open with the inclusion of the strengths of the people around. In this regard, it can be seen that the process of psychotherapy aims to build the morale of the clients with the incorporation of the people around them. Meaning to say, the support group surrounding the clients is being established and made realized. More often than not, people that are suffering from depression feel like there are no other people caring for them. They feel alone and that there is no one out there willing to give and lend a helping hand. This is one of the problems that are being addressed by psychotherapy. Through such kind of therapy, a new value such as being interpersonal is incorporated. It must be noted that since depression is an output of loneliness, awakening the clients to the reality that there are support groups out there that are willing to help is a great thing.
