Classrooms In The Bay Area, Hotels In San Jose

This isn’t your standard state university. Though it is a state school, and suffers from the stigma attached to such schools, San Jose State University is still a highly contested school for eager high school graduates. In fact, there are approximately 30,000 students in attendance every year. How can the school accommodate so many students and faculty? Aside from the abundance of hotels in San Jose, the school and City Council have embarked on an impressive building campaign to house the students.

Despite sharing the Bay Area with such damp neighbors as San Francisco and Marin County, San Jose happens to enjoy a rather dry, sunny climate. Winters are mild and summers are relatively warm. This means, for lovers of the great outdoors and all-round great weather, San Jose is an ideal place.

Students do indeed flock to the university-provided housing, but a good portion of them prefer to live off-campus. With rents for one bedrooms and studio apartments as low as $700, that preference is understandable. Larger apartments, with two or three bedrooms, can run as much as $1500. By and large, the more affordable neighborhoods are Almaden, Willow Glen, and Cambrian. Ironically, these neighborhoods are also rife with high-tech companies and recruiters.

So, the options are limitless. From temporary hotels in San Jose to long term apartments, students are finding the lodgings they need. What they both have in common is proximity. Students want to be able to walk to class — if not walk, then drive and then no more than fifteen minutes. A number of these off-campus apartment complexes offer fitness centers, recreation rooms, and computer labs. These have turned out to be powerful lures.

Of course, the complexes do a good job at offering powerful lures. These include swimming pools, hot tubs, and Jacuzzis. For students who must deal with stressful schedules and classes, a few laps in the pool are just the thing. Whether they opt to stay on campus or off campus, students at San Jose State seem to have a wealth of options available to them.

The best hotels in San Jose can be enjoyed by students as well as tourists or business professionals. So, from extended stay to five-star hotels, temporary housing options abound in San Jose.
