5 Great Ways To Cool Off During The Dog Days Of Summer

Sometimes sitting in front of a fan is just not enough to keep you cool in the summer heat. With hottest and most humid days of summer now here, those of us who do not have an air conditioner or central air unit discover some of the weirdest yet most effective ways to cool off. This article will outline just a small percentage of these methods to help you keep from sweating during these final summer weeks.

1) Shopping – One thing that I love to do is to go shopping. Almost all stores have air conditioning and heat. Head down to your local grocery store or even to the mall. Public places such as these will not only allow you to get some shopping done, but will keep you cool and dry as well.

2) Friend’s House – We all love the company of a good friend or two, and they surely love our company as well. Many of your friends will have an air conditioner or central air, so head over to their house to hang out and sit the cool air for a while.

3) Neighborhood Pool – People have been cooling off in water since the dawn of time. Perhaps your friends even have a pool? If not, maybe your local area has a community pool. For a small daily fee (sometimes even free depending on where you live), you can stay “cool by the pool” all day long if you’d like. No pool? Check out some local lakes or rivers in your area, as they’re sure to be a cool spot as well.

4) Sprinkler – Remember when you were a kid and used to play in the sprinkler attached to the hose? Well don’t discount that as an idea for keeping cool when it’s hot out. Not only is it a good activity to bring parents and children together, but it’s a lot of fun as well!

5) Drink Water – Everyone knows how amazingly good a glass of nice cold water or lemonade tastes and feels when it’s hot out. Try this in addition to any of the other 4 above “cool” techniques.

Staying cool during the hot and sticky months of the summer is not only more comfortable, but it is healthier also. One should maintain their body heat at a slightly cooler body temperature in the summer months. Use these tips to cool off, and it’s almost certain that during the summer months will be some of the most comfortable and enjoyable of the entire year.
