VW Caddy and Crafter win Awards

The new Crafter in Barnstaple is the largest van that Volkswagen produces; they have been producing it since 2006 when it replaced the LT. The Volkswagen Caddy is a light van initially released by VW in 1996; it is modelled on the Volkswagen Group’s A03 platform.

For the 2nd year running VW is proud to boast that its VW Crafter and VW Caddy have been awarded with Professional Van and Light Truck magazine’s awards. The Caddy won the award of “Compact Van” whilst the Crafter won “Van Derived Chassis Cab”.

VW launched the new Caddy Maxi in February of this year; the Maxi Caddy offers 800kg of paid load volume. The Caddy Maxi fits in between the Caddy and the Transporter. As the biggest model in the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles range, the Crafter chassis and double cabs offer payloads from 1,472 kg to 3,026 kg and Gross Vehicle Weights of 3.5 or 5.0 tonnes.

The editor of the PV magazine said about the Caddy Maxi, ‘With a load length now of 2250 mm compared to the Caddy’s 1781 mm it gives tradesmen the opportunity to carry their stepladders inside the van rather than on a roof rack!”
He added about the Crafter, “With its range of 2.5-litre, five cylinder engines, the Crafter has all the power and torque you could need in this size of vehicle. Add that to the spacious and comfy cab, and you have a mix that is hard to beat. The final clincher is that badge on the grille which inspires buyers to buy with confidence.”

Winning two awards is a massive achievement for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles who have faced a tough time during the recession and economic downturn. VW are confident that the new Caddy maxi will win a few more awards as it has been selling very well and is receiving great reviews.
