Popular TV personality Nancy O’Dell will countdown to the New Year as the host of FOX’s “New Year’s Eve Live,” featuring chart-topping musical guests. “It’ll be the first New Year’s Eve that I’ve actually stayed awake in quite a while because I’ve always had to be up so early for the Tournament of Roses] parade that I’ve hosted for the past 10 years,” Nancy tells ET at her photo shoot for the special.
With everything that is happening for Nancy, she says she will still make a New Year’s resolution, but it is the same one that she makes every year. “Mine, and I think that it actually lends to a much more healthy life than going with some diet or something, is to say, ‘I’m going to look at everything as the glass half full, not half empty.’ So positivity is just something that I tell myself at the end of every year.” “New Year’s Eve Live” airs Friday, Dec. 31 at 11 p.m. on FOX.
In an annual tradition, the New Year’s Eve Live Ball drop will take place Friday, December 31, 2010 as everyone welcomes in 2011. The Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration will include the legendary Dick Clark counting down until the New Year hits, and the ball drops in Times Square. Ryan Seacrest will host the celebration along with his beautiful co-host Jenny McCarthy. Tentatively called “Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011,” ABC.com is reporting that there will be a wide variety of musical performances.
In the past, he was the main host, but due to his unfortunate stroke years ago, Clark has handed the duties over to Seacrest. Dick still gets to handle the most important part of the night, and that is the final countdown! Will you be watching the 2011 Times Square Ball Drop on ABC, or do you prefer a different way to usher in the new year?
But the question remains, will Beyonc? and Gwyneth Paltrow join their husbands for a New Year’s kiss at the Marquee grand opening, which is where the post-show party is. And what would New Year’s Eve be without “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in The Big Apple? Ryan Seacrest hosts the annual party in Times Square that features performances by Ke$ha and Taio Cruz. Jenny McCarthy will also be on hand looking for someone to smooch. Over at MTV’s New Year’s Bash, Flo Rida is set to perform twice and Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi will be placed inside a ball that will drop in Seaside Heights, N.J., as the clock ticks down to midnight.
Television personality Nancy O’Dell is doing a 2011 countdown as host of “New Year’s Eve Live” on Fox. O’Dell has been practicing the countdown with her 3-year-old daughter as a counting exercise. She’ll anchor the Friday night special from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas with singer Brandy as a special correspondent. Cameras in New York City will capture its annual ball drop in Times Square.
Guests include “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta (“Parents approve,” she said, “so both parents and children can watch”) and Travie McCoy. Nancy is especially excited to ring in 2011 because it’s going to be a big year for her. She’ll soon start hosting “Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star” for the Oprah Winfrey Network and do reports for “Entertainment Tonight,” before filling Mary Hart’s high heels at the end of the season. “Mary is a TV icon,” Nancy said, “the one who started it all.” What Nancy likes about “ET” is that the show is “classy” and has “always stayed true to its format. It delivers news but it doesn’t feel sensationalized, and it is the No. 1 entertainment show so it must be doing something right.”
