Life In The Villages
I am a fifty nine year old farmer. My family is a good representative of most families in China who reside in the rural areas. My family consists of five people and we own a half hectare of land which we use to do our faming. My two sons involve themselves in building site casual jobs. My village is called Tuan Li and is located almost fifty kilometers a way from the city of Beijing. Our village consists of small population of people and the number of students does not exceed 1000.
The town of Tuan Li has ten residential streets which also have a business center that has at least 10 hotels, a small store and a post office and a shop and a market. Since there is a college in the area the areas economy has been gradually developing. Those people who come from the rural Tuan Li always come to do there selling and buying of goods and services in this small town but the scenario in the rural Tuan Li is that a statistical figure of almost two people out of ten people in a family cannot a afford education yet there is a school located in the area, they cannot afford medical services and other social amenities. Back in the village poverty is part of the people and it is the greatest worry of all the people who are living under poverty.
Because people live in nucleated type of residences the village store is a very special asset to the life of the villagers. This store had all the stored goods and foodstuffs for use. The only entertainment is our village is the restaurant in the town where we always go to hangout, but it does not have seats hence we always squat where we always chat about the latest happenings and the peculiar people in the community.
Many people in Tuan Li town and even in the village like me always preferred to take meals at the restaurant. Therefore my eating routine is usually visiting the restaurant three times a day because the prices were affordable and the meals are served in large quantities. My favorite meal is scorpion meat which so delicious to me and the other foods I like includes; moose meat, guinea pigs meat and fish barbeque. I always take coffee with traditional yams and potatoes for my breakfast. In our rural home we refer to toilets as “squats. It is usually rectangular in shape and it is made of porcelain. It assumes the structure of a flush toilet.
In our community the association between our children and us the parents, is a very good one. This might be because parents usually have one or two children which makes it easy for us to control our children and that is why for my case I have two sons who we are living happily with despite the small hardships which we get because of poverty. I showed a lot of love to my children and my one wife and we worked together on our small piece of land in a communal way in order ton bring some surplus to sell so as to be able to afford the other necessities of life such as clothing and personal effects.
