Hardware’s landmark move
Restoration Hardware has purchased the Italianate palazzo that was home to the Ed Hardy antiques gallery. The South of Market landmark, with its elegant garden courtyard, will Ed Hardy Women Clothingreopen in mid September as the Corte Madera company’s first San Francisco location and its first outpost in a design district.
An internationally renowned antiques dealer, Hardy will join Restoration Hardware’s product team. Hardy was formerly a department head at Sotheby’s in Los Angeles.
The move is part of the company’s rebranding effort, which emphasizes timeless decor, says company CEO Gary Friedman. “We don’t think of ourselves as retailers anymore, we think of ourselves as curators,” he said.There can be no better place to show off your new swimsuit than Miami Beach, yard from Ocean Drive.
