Anointing Oils In The Church

Churches use anointing oils much of the time to rub over pews, entry ways, crosses, and other objects commonly located within the building. In the Bible, there are many reports of people using oils to rub over objects to claim the object or place sacred. More and more modern churches are returning to traditional methods and practices used by the older churches and this instills a sense of value and tradition in the members of the church.
Oils can be used in churches to teach and to demonstrate how they were used Biblically. Oils are also used by elders of the church when praying over a physically ill person as was done in the Bible. Many of these anointing oils are made of spices and vegetable or perfume oils and are sold in a large selection from tiny capsules to large bottles.
Pastors and Priests will anoint many parts of their church or cathedral to declare the place deemed holy by God or to invite God into the church or cathedral. This is a tradition followed by God’s commandment in the Bible to followers who were making places for temples and worship. These oils still persist today in being a relevant part of religious upbringing and practices.
