Recovered Love
The homeless, the injured and the destroyed cities hit our mind each time we think of world war two. However, there were many touching stories that also came with the brutal and ruthless war. Even though they happened a long time ago, they are still alive.
A girl named Judy fell in love with a boy named Tim one year just before United States of America made its part of the war. They flipped and loved each other more than any others could do. Judy asked Tim to send her a lingerie as her Valentine’s Day gift. Just like Judy had wished, Tim decided to give her a lingerie from Paris, the capital of fashion world. Unfortunately, Tim enrolled in the army to do something for his country just before he could make his promise come true. For Judy, she could do nothing but seeing him off for the war.
Judy seemed to lose her interest in all things. But there was one small gadget that she would hold on to each day. It was nothing but a small radio which told her exactly what she wanted. In the first year after he left, they wrote to each other twice a week. Into the second year, he almost could not reply to her. Then into the third year, she could not find anything about him at all. She felt lost and depressed. Only the information printed on the newspaper or the words coming out of the radio could catch her attention.
The war in Europe was brutal. Millions of people were killed every single day. Each letter about a death of an American soldier would tear her heart into pieces as she kept wondering if the next one could be him. When she began to think of that, nightmare came along just like the sky covered completely by dark clouds.
One day, as she was busy on the ranch, feeding her sheep, a mail boy came along and gave her a letter which told her Tim had sacrificed his life for his country. On reading the letter, she fell apart, lying on the grass until her Dad carried her home with a carriage.
Another two years passed. It was a sunny day when Judy was sitting on the porch, focusing on her painting. A tired soul carrying an injured body showed up in front of her. As she looked up, he was nobody but Tim standing there, the same Tim who looked older and thinner. She did not say anything with such a surprise until he opened his arms. A long hug and kiss represented the end of world war two for this couple. A nice-looking and decent lingerie from Paris followed after the enthusiasm.
It turned out that he volunteered for a team who was intent to save an important politician trapped in Paris. This was a very dangerous mission during which there was a great chance for him to be killed. However, for his promise to her, he was determined to go there. Unfortunately, as they finished its task and were to retreat, he was founded by the German soldiers and captured by them. However, he was successfully saved by the underground group in Paris and recovered with their help. Due to his serious injury, he wondered if he could go home and even made a will telling his good buddy to carry the lingerie back to America. During those days in Paris, the U.S. army found him missing and deemed him as a casualty. Fortunately, it may be love that saved his life and encouraged him to come back to her again.
