Episode Summary: Michael prepares himself for the good or bad news about Holly and her boyfriend. Pam decides to put up a resolution board for everyone to post their New Year ‘s resolutions. Meanwhile, Michael calls for a counseling session with Holly.
Based on the popular British series of the same name, this faster-paced American version follows the daily interactions of a group of idiosyncratic office employees via a documentary film crew’s cameras. Regional manager Michael thinks he’s the coolest, funniest, best boss ever – which, of course, makes him the uncoolest, most obnoxious and annoying boss as far as his staff is concerned. His co-worker Jim lusts after engaged receptionist Pam when he’s not sabotaging his cube-mate, the know-it-all Dwight. Ryan Howard is a young, smart, self-possessed temp, who quickly figures out the real office politics despite Michael’s attempts to instill the official point- of-view.

I actually found myself interested in the Michael & Holly story line and I must say Erin was hilarious in thisepisode. She’s been really funny lately and I accept her more because of it. Oscar suspecting that Angela’s boyfriend is gay was funny but I wonder if he will actually turn out to be gay I’m interested to see how that plays out. Dwight & Jim yet again stole the show here. The final scene with Pam & Jim was absolutely hysterical, and I really felt like Jim deserved it for messing with Dwight all those years. It was great to see Jim scared like that. As for the sentimental moments, we’ve got the possible demise of AJ & Holly. The scene between Michael and Pam was nice and heartwarming, as was the scene between Jim & Pam with the comic book. The Darryl scenes I didn’t much care for, the scenes were mostly filler in my opinion.
This whole one hour special just reminded me why I watch this show. I also mentioned this in my previous review, but I had to say it again. Hopefully The Office keeps it up, but to be honest, I doubt they will, knowing The Office.
