A Synopsis of The Cleveland Show A Family Guy Spin Off

If you have yet to watch The Cleveland Show, you’re missing out. This funny, animated program is an offshoot of the famously hilarious Family Guy, another popular, animated show. This time, Cleveland Brown and his son, Cleveland Brown Jr., who was also featured in Family Guy, are front and center.

The show chronicles Cleveland Brown and Jr, after the duo has moved back to the elder Brown’s hometown of Stoolbend, Virginia from Quahog, Rhode Island. There, Cleveland Sr. reunites with an old flame. The two quickly reconnect and get married. From there, the program is all about the brand new family’s adventures together.

The show is fun to watch, especially for those individuals who were fans of Family Guy. It’s always cool to view a spin-off, especially at first because it is interesting to see where the directors are taking the character. Many people get invested in characters and thus want to see if their development in the new show is similar to the old one.

When spin-offs are done well, they’re great. When they aren’t, things can south very quickly. No one wants to see a beloved character totally veer from what they came to know and love. Most prefer that at least some continuity and familiarity remains. Good writing and a good basic back story is essential. The creators of The Cleveland Show,
(Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry and Richard Appel) have made an effort to stick to what makes Cleveland Brown funny, while still giving him a hilarious story of his own. The show’s plot is cool. There are lots of funny scenarios, one-liners and memorable scenes.

MacFarlane, Henry and Appel have managed to do really good job with this particular spin-off. This is a pretty great accomplishment, considering that while, spin-offs are often good in theory and fans get excited about the prospect, they are hard to pull off. Often times they come off as being cheesy and a bit of a let down. This one hasn’t been.

For those individuals who have yet to watch The Cleveland Show, the internet is a great place to do so. There are a number of very good websites which give members access to their favorite sitcoms. Individuals are able to view them online as much as they want and whenever, they’d like. This is eureka for the true fan, giving them an opportunity to watch the sitcoms they have either missed or want to see again.
