You know it’s time to change your ink cartridge when you can barely read what’s printing out of it. Unfortunately, replacing them is one of the most expensive computer related purchases out there. Luckily there are many ways to find cheap ink cartridges.
One of the best options is to buy a refill kit, or go to a shop that refills the ink for you at a minimal charge. The initial price of buying a refill kit will definitely pay itself off, and in the end will save you a lot of money. Ink cartridges can be very expensive, the average being $50 if you buy in a box store, so this is definitely a cheaper option.
Alternatively, you can buy generic. Like buying no-name products in a grocery store, the generic cartridges are generally a lot cheaper than the brand names but they do the same trick. Don’t be fooled into buying brand name because you associate it with quality – you can get some good quality print jobs from a generic, more affordable printing accessory.
You could also think about investing in a printer that uses cheaper ink altogether. For example, Kodak types are typically much cheaper, as are the refill kits – usually under $10 for plain black ink. Unfortunately you can’t use this cheap ink in other printers; you’d have to buy a Kodak printer (such as an EasyShare printer, for example).
There are also benefits in joining a manufacturer’s reward program, such as HP’s My Print Rewards. Often you can get discounts, translating to cheap ink cartridges, or free shipping. It may not be the cheapest option, but you can definitely save some money by taking advantage of the various programs available.
As you can see there are many options available in order to find cheap ink cartridges. Just by searching around, you could save plenty of money compared to just buying what’s convenient.
