The Size of the Investment Dictates That Buying a New Car Should Not Be Rushed
There are few more exciting times in anyone’s life than when they are first handed the keys to their latest brand new vehicle. Unless you are a Premiership footballer, or the driver of a company-supplied vehicle, it is also a pleasure which is experienced only rarely – which is why it is all the more important to ensure that everything is right from the off.
The scale of the financial investment involved means that taking time to ensure that you are completely satisfied with your new car before even driving it off the forecourt could further enhance the undoubted pleasure which is gained from driving a car which feels, smells and, most importantly, looks new. Buying a new car is a happy time for most because it represents what is likely to be our second biggest single purchase after our home. It brings to mind the prospect of having the freedom to explore new places and discover new joy from revisiting old ones.
The car of anyone’s dreams is not just the one which looks and feels right for them, and has all the practical features they want, but is also that which falls within their budget so that it will be affordable even when ongoing costs such as fuel, maintenance and road taxes are factored into the equation.
One of the beauties of today’s new car market is that there is much more competition among people who claim they can find just the right car for you.
But most manufacturers still stick to a franchise model for selling their cars, allocating these to cover a particular geographical area. While this means that anyone can easily find their nearest dealer for any particular make of car, it could mean that, depending on how extensive that manufacturer’s network is, that they have to travel some way to reach them.
There is no reason to think that the price displayed on a new car is that which has to be paid for the vehicle. It is merely the manufacturer’s suggested price, unless it is clearly stated otherwise. In many cases, this leaves the buyer in the favourable position of being able to negotiate, especially when it is indicated that the car is readily available from stocks which have already been built and, where applicable, imported into the country of sale.
When the sale is finally agreed, the customer should be able to feel reasonably confident that they have secured a good deal which, essentially, is one which means that their new car is comfortably affordable without putting too much strain on their budget.
