Pass the CPA Exam with Yaeger CPA Review Course
The Yaeger CPA review course was not the only CPA review course I used. After using a different study course, I only passed one out of four sections of the exam. It was due to this experience that I bought Yaeger’s Home Study Course, which resulted in helping me to pass all three sections with great scores.
The Yaeger site claims that people who have studied the Yaeger CPA review course materials have an 88% pass rate on the CPA exam. The founder, Dr. Phil Yaeger, has helped prepare students for the exam since 1977. I was attracted to the fact Dr. Yaeger and his team provided access to a tutors help line. It is a valuable part of their candidate support system and is an 800 number. I made plenty of calls to this hotline and have talked with very patient lecturers (including Dr. Yaeger himself a couple of times) who never finished the call until all my questions were answered.
The lecture videos are fairly absorbing and are delivered by knowledgeable lecturers. The videos followed a simple format where tutors explained the important concepts and worked through multiple choice questions and samples. One bonus with the Yaeger system is that more lecture time is used up with materials that will more likely show up on the exam. Similarly, they would only ask candidates to focus more on doing sample questions that have the highest chances of turning up in the actual exam.
Also worth noting are Yaeger’s cram DVDs which can add between 5 to 15 points to your exam scores. Every DVD teaches a condensed version of a single CPA section and lasts 7-16 hours. These cram DVDs are aimed at highlighting the candidates least strong areas and improving those areas right before the exam. Even students that are using another CPA review course can benefit from these cram DVDs by using them for supplementary, last-minute study materials.
Each year, the Yaeger CPA review course is assessed and updated. This also includes lecture videos they review and update annually. Thus, the student can be confident that they are studying from the most up-to-date information.
The total cost of the Yaeger products surpised me as it is lower than other CPA exam review courses – even though it is better quality than some. Overall, I am very satisfied with the Yaeger CPA review course as guided me to success in the CPA exam. I would recommend it to anyone hoping to succeed in the CPA exam the first time.
