Kitchen Remodeling
You’re ready to tear out the old and begin to manifest the kitchen of your dreams whether it reserves your present cabinetry or you’re starting from a blank space.
You have a picture in mind of the walls, backsplash materials, the new flooring, windows and window treatments, new appliances and of course your new counters. Seems like a well thought vision but you’re missing two important components; functionality and the heart of the kitchen.
The Heart of Kitchen
The heart of a kitchen and functionality is a lot like the human body of the heart and the cardio vascular system.
When people think about a remodel of their kitchen they seem to get it all lined to perfection with the exception of the heart. They know they want more counter space or more storage as well as a particular floor or overall design and appliance type.
The most important component of the kitchen and its functionality is the kitchen sink and facet. I know your first thought was the heart of kitchen and functionality was the stove, counter space or how accessible cooking and food prep supplies and utensils but a moment’s thought about how time is spent in the kitchen will lead you to the kitchen sink and facet.
Functionality
Functionality is based on how easily you can move from sink to stove and refrigerator to sink or what is known as the “working Triangle” of the kitchen. Even galley type kitchens have a working triangle and when there is a straight line kitchen the sink is always centered between stove and refrigerator. A kitchen absent of a working triangle or without a sink at the heart of the kitchen is without a moment’s thought the picture of a dysfunctional layout that is not conductive to the tasks that need be performed in the space.
Planning the Kitchen Remodel
When you are at the planning stage of your remodel make a list of all the things that lack in your current design and how your new design will resolve the issues. Note the current working triangle and how it complied with your functionality needs. Think about the work pattern triangle; if it was well addressed in your current kitchen than your remodel may be facial. If the working triangle was absent or obstructed than calculate your kitchen habits and traffic patterns to redesign the work triangle that best fits your kitchen functionality and your traffic flow to and around the kitchen by others while cooking and food preparation is being preformed.
A good working triangle is not obstructed by the seating area nor is the passage way to the sink obstructed by traffic. The sink must be easily accessible for washing produce, rinsing or washing utensils or dishes during the cooking process, moving containers of water to the stove or pans from the stove and kitchen clean up, which brings us full circle or to the the triangle of any great kitchen design; the sink and facet.
The Sink and Facet Design
A good kitchen design actually starts with the sink and facet. Sinks are not just sinks anymore nor are they’re counterpart in functionality, the facet.
A good list of how you use your kitchen sink area will denote the sink and facet design that best suits your needs. Do you need a wide sink, a deep sink, a garbage disposal sink, a produce prep sink or multiple sinks? Most homes use a dishwasher for dishes and utensils but about those large pots and cooking sheets that don’t fit in the dishwasher, where might they be washed?
How do you cook? Do you boil a lot or steam? Access to a water source is imperative in cooking and what about the water you cook with, will it be filtered or purified? What about the water your family will drink, will it be from the tap or from a separate water source that has been filtered or treated?
Facets are an extreme component of the sink. Do your water use functions denote it having a high clearance from the sink? Will your perfect facet need to have a built in retractable sprayer. Do you have need for more than one facet system type in your sink area or even a third for drinking water? Is it possible you may need a separate sink on an island for a specific purpose such as vegetable prep sink or drinking water source?
Kitchen design begins at the heart of kitchen and great kitchen designs begin with versatile sink and facet design incorporated into the kitchen remodel articulation. For more Info please Visit : www.fasttrackfaucetsandfixtures.com
