Wood For Woodworking Projects

First we are going to talk about the soft woods. The most common soft woods are pine, fir, spruce, hemlock, cedar and redwood. These woods are often used for home construction projects. The next type of woods are the more exotic woods. They often come from different countries. And from the rainforests. Rosewood is one of them, it’s extremely dense and very heavy. Another kind of exotic wood is mahogany and it’s one of the softer exotic woods. Some other exotic woods are teak and zebrawood. Zebrawood is named after its dark stripes and has a very nice decorative finish. And as last you got bubinga wood, this is also often used for furniture because of its nice wood pattern. All these types of exotic woods are in most cases the most expensive woods that you can buy.
As last type of wood there is plywood. Plywood is created of an uneven number of alternating layers of wood, or a type of manufactured sheet. The two most common manufactured plywood’s used are MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and Particle Board. Both are made from wood particles, combined with glue and bonded under pressure.
So each type of wood has its own density, colour, patterns and resistance. Depending on what woodworking project you are going to do you pick your wood on these 4 qualities. Each of the woods that we talked about are good woods for woodworking.
