Mobile phones available on the market at that time were very bulky, heavy and lacking in style. Motorola was once again the first company to introduce the first Motorola flip cell phone call MicroTAC. It had a flap to cover the keypad and the end of the flap is the microphone. Many breathed a sigh of relief, as this may prevent you from accidentally dialing a number.

Today, you can chat, check e-mail, send files, send multimedia (MMS), check out web browsers, and be connected to the social networking website. In 2000, Nokia got rid of external antenna and introduced the Nokia 3120 with a streamlined look and integrated internal antenna. It was also the first phone with T9 predictive text, SMS did a piece of cake.
Nobody ever dreamed of a “say cheese and clicking photos with your phone. However, another fantasy became reality with the introduction of the Sharp J-SH04, a camera phone. Today, all that one may think of the mega-pixels that provide cellular phone manufacturers to help them click on the images sharp and clear.
Introduction of high-speed 3G data in 2001 became another turning point in the history of cell phones. NTT DoCoMo of Japan, introduced the first network of pre-commercial 3G in the form of FOMA. It was released in 2001 on a pre-release technology WCDMA. Today, we have a very sophisticated 3G mobile phones in their pockets that fold up like a mini version of the laptop.

With the advanced technology available and the financial support for many big shots pumped in the world of mobile phones has become very unpredictable as to what may be the future of mobile phones. Today, mobile phones allow us to make video calls, who knows, you might be able to see a 3D image of our party. What may be in the future, one thing is sure, cell phones have played a crucial role in shaping world history.
