Audi scoops Business Car Awards
2010 has been a very good year for Audi, surpassing production targets, breaking sales records and introducing groundbreaking new models. This week it received another boost in the form of three BusinessCar Awards, the Q5, A3 and the R8 were winners for Audi.
The Audi Q5 came top in the Small 4×4 category at the fleet publication’s annual awards, which for the Q5 is the second consecutive time. The Audi A3 successfully clinched the Lower Medium Car of the year title for the third time in five years, while the Audi R8 retained its Sporting Car of the year title.
The Q5 held onto its Small 4×4 of the year award amongst fierce competition from other manufacturers. Paul Barker the Editor of BusinessCar described the Q5 as a cost effective and extremely appealing car, he said, “In a tough segment, the Q5’s repeated success shows its quality, and business car fleets are obviously as impressed as we are.”
The A3 cemented its place in the Lower Medium Car sector by winning the tile for the third time in just five years. The BusinessCar editor said, “The Audi A3 has proved to be a consistent fleet favourite, combining premium brand image with low running costs and emissions to offer a great business car proposition, which means it’s no surprise that the readers of BusinessCar have picked the A3 as their favourite lower medium model in 2011.”
The Audi R8 may not spring to mind as a typical fleet car, but 147 Audi R8s were registered as fleet purchases in 2010. BusinessCar readers were taken with its high-performance credentials and voted it Sporting Car of the year. Paul Barker explained: “Though Audi’s R8 is far from a typical business car, it’s a sign of how far the Audi brand has come that it’s judged as the most appealing sporting model across the whole industry. The looks, performance and badge appeal make for a winning combination in this most desirable of segments.”
The success of Audi in the fleet sector means there are many more used Audi in Wales as well as the rest of the UK.
