Sony PS3 has Gran Turismo 5 released after a long 5 year wait.

When it was first announced that Gran Turismo 5 was going to be made for the Playstation 3, many children were very excited about the news. Being a huge GT fan myself, I have to say I was also very excited. There were rumours starting about what to expect from the game, and the sort of cars and tracks that would be included.

However, this was now 5 years ago, and sadly we have all grown up since that time, and have busy lives to live. So what took them so long? Well anyone that owns the game would understand what took so long. The game goes into so much detail that you cannot fault any part of the cars made, even the inside of the cars exactly replicate real life.

The question is, was it worth the wait? It has to be said that GT5 is a fantastic game and can keep you hooked for hours on end. With hundreds of different tracks, vehicles and types of races, there is always a goal to be aiming for. The problem is, they quite possibly went too far with this game. Many people want to just turn on their PS3 and have a quick blast around the track in their virtual sports car. This is easier said than done with GT5 as you have to wait for what seems forever for the game to load, then you have to navigate your way through long tedious menus, to eventually get to your race.

It may just be me, but I feel that turning on the PS3 and having a quick go on Need for Speed seems more enticing than GT5 and that the hopes and dreams I had for the game all those years ago have just dissapeared.

For many people though this game will be a dream come true with the sheer number of laps, tracks, challenges and cars that can be unlocked, many children will be glued to their steering wheel for quite some time. In fact some people have gone so far as to turn their bedroom into a GT5 haven, with many custom cockpits being built just to play GT5. With highly priced steering wheels welded into a makeshift car cockpit, and a 47 inch TV screen in front of you, some would consider this going a step too far.

Nevertheless there will always be fans out there of the Gran Turismo series that will play the game no matter what, they will buy the game just because of the name, they will wait however long it takes to get it, and they will be proud when it arrives on their doorstep.

As a bit of background reading for the game itself. GT5 was Developed exclusively for PS3 by Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 5 brings the world’s most realistic and comprehensive driving experience to fans in one of the most highly anticipated games of all time.It has over 1000 licensed cars from the world’s top manufacturers and more than 20 tracks.
Featuring exciting gameplay and modes to suit newcomers, automotive enthusiasts, and seasoned fans, Gran Turismo 5 raises the bar on the franchise’s depth of content and unparalleled visuals difficult to distinguish from a live race. Further reflecting this realism, cars will feature real-time visual damage with adaptive and accurate car deformation based on point of impact and velocity. Additionally for the first time, Gran Turismo 5 will feature an extremely deep online and community feature set. Players can progress and acquire credits through a variety of modes like GT Career Mode, Championship Races, License Tests and more, or they can explore different tracks and circuit variations in Arcade Mode.
