HDTV Reviews – How we test them
You might think that we are the luckiest persons in the world because manufacturers give us their products for testing in our labs. But once we are done with the reviews, we send the TVs back to them. But we do keep them for around 5-7 days for testing and hence we can drool on them for as long as we want during that period.
Our review lab consists of various TVs put together one above the other or next to each other. We deliberately keep the TVs like this because it becomes easier to compare their picture quality while writing HDTV Reviews. We usually take about five days to finish a review, we unpack the product first, look at the various features, check out the styling and then finally it comes down to video quality.
Just like you’d expect in HDTV Reviews, we write about the pros and cons of the panel. We also give the ‘final verdict’ of the product and here we conclude whether the TV is worth your hard earned money or not. We get all kinds of TVs in our labs for review. Right from entry level panels to high end plasma TVs. Usually the entry level TVs reviews take less time where as the high end ones take a long time. This is because the high end panels come with lot of features and hence we test all of them for the HDTV Reviews.
When we get a TV, the first thing we do is take it out of the box and then click a photo of it for the review. We have a lot of high end equipment for testing the TVs and it costs really a lot. We purchased all this equipment especially for testing the HDTVs. For video quality tests, we have Roku Blu-ray player. We put in a Blu-ray movie and then check out how the panels fare against each other in terms of quality. Apart from that, we also check for standard definition content. This might not be that popular right now because of all the HD content coming in but we still mention the quality of SD content in our HDTV Reviews.
A TV comes with VGA jack for connecting it to a computer. We connect the given TV to a computer to check what quality we get. You’d use a TV with a computer mainly for playing games or movies. So we test them for these two features and mention it in our reviews.
